Coppermark Public Adjusters is gearing up to assist businesses affected amid protests throughout the Oklahoma City area this weekend. Many businesses were vandalized this weekend which has left business owners at a loss of what to do next. Some insurance providers are wrongfully labeling the damage as a riot or civil commotion, instead of vandalism and theft, so that they can deny the claim.

Coppermark Public Adjusters Vice President Stephanie Lee said, “We are absolutely heartbroken over the destruction of our precious city.  We love our community and the small businesses that make up a large portion of our economy.  As such we are rolling up our sleeves to do whatever it takes to get the businesses that were vandalized this weekend back on their feet again.”

Coppermark Public Adjusters is offering free policy reviews and damage inspection to those affected by the weekend’s events. After a loss of this magnitude, it is important to have someone review your insurance policy and carefully document all the damage to your property.  Through the turmoil, it is vital that everything is recorded properly in your vandalism and/or theft loss. According to Coppermark Public Adjusters President Greg Cannon, here are a few things you need to do right now in order to get back to business as soon as possible.

  • Secure your property in order to prevent further loss
  • Locate your insurance policy
  • Take pictures of everything damaged
  • Catalog missing or damaged items and equipment
  • Have a licensed public insurance adjuster review your insurance policy and damage to your business.
  • Have a public adjuster file a vandalism and/or theft claim with your insurance company.
